Miami’s Global Connection is a TV show dedicated to raising awareness of the interdependent world in which we live. We focus on local leaders involved in education, business, diplomacy, peacekeeping, health care, entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and how various projects and initiatives impact us both locally and globally.
The globalization of world economies has brought new interest to average Americans who now want to know more about what is going on in their world and how it may affect them. Miami’s Global Connection educates and informs the public on events and trends that may affect them on a local basis as well as give the viewer a better understanding of the global consequences of what they are watching.
The goal is to help viewers understand the complexities of the various international affairs and bridge a greater connection to why citizens should be concerned about international -local issues and projects. Additionally, the show looks at the role of the United Nations and explores opportunities for continued improvements.
Whitney Belker Vauvelle, the host and producer of Miami’s Global Connection, was the 2005 recipient of the Earl James United Nations Association Innovative Use of Technology Award in New York. The show previously aired on PBS’s Learning Channel as well as Cable Tap Miami reaching more than 2 million homes several times a week.
The Miami Chapter of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) is an educational, research and grassroots non-profit organization that is devoted to informing and educating the public about the critical services provided by the UN, while striving to make the UN more effective.
